I haven’t been doing much gigging over the last year, but that’s not to say I’ve been sitting here inactive to here is a little news update!
I’m now studying Technology of Music and Inside Music back to back with the Open University, so between that and my full time day job there hasn’t been a great deal of time (or energy) for playing out. The release of our Inner City – Good Love remix last year was one of the best things to ever happen to me, so I want to release more, but I want to be able to bring more to the production table so studying seems the way forward. Loving it so far, I can already feel the knowledge I’m gaining having an effect on my DJing and music choices, so hopefully that will be reflected in my podcast!
On the subject of the podcast, I’m absolutely touched by how rapidly my listenership is increasing. I’m now getting about 30,000 plays a month in total across all episodes, and the stats say that a lot of people are coming back again and again! Bearing in mind I was only getting 1000 this time last year that’s a heck of an increase.
As far as DJing out goes, I’m still working with Kidology and Wild Fruit, so keep an eye out for upcoming gigs with them. I’ve been spending an awful lot of time organising my music, and creating ultimate playlists for different genres of house. I’m looking to do much more DJing this year, so I need to get organised to fit it into everything else I have on my plate! I’ll be doing a lot of different mixes to try out new sounds so keep an eye out for something a bit different coming soon. I’ve also been practicing like mad, honing my vinyl skills, and I’m very interested in playing out on that again! There are so many DJs out there now, I figure anything I can do to set myself out from the majority can only be a good thing
